But have we ever wondered why do we have different palates and whether we can continue to consume our regional Online homestyle food regularly while away from home? For example, if we consider the predominant regional side dishes, in south and east of India we find that the staple is rice, while in the north and west its wheat. They are different not just due to what is grown in the region preferable to the soil, rain and temperature, but also what can be stomached there. In warmer humid areas such as most parts of South India, rice is quite soothing to the stomach. Whereas, wheat goes very well where there are extremes of temperature such as the north, and people need a lot of energy to survive these conditions. Wheat having the capacity of producing higher amount of energy is thus prevalent in these regions. Now, in today’s world, we migrate a lot from our places of origin. Does that mean that due to climatic conditions we switch our diet every time we move from our places of origin? While it helps if we can also palate the prevalent food of a region we move to, but sometimes our constitutions also help us sustain food that our bodies are more used to better than others. So, for example it’s always better if we can adopt both the staples in our diet as we migrate. It means that if we are North Indians living in the South or vice versa, we don’t have to totally give up our regional food or totally ignore the food of the region we have moved to.
